First of all, this is is not going to be a list of the healthiest meals I cook. Ever since I have the little guy with me all days long, sometimes there just isn’t time for elaborate cooking. For those cases I need to have few easy options available, that don’t take much time.

Just for reference, I make these meals for lunch when it’s just me and the baby and then I usually have something with better nutritional value for dinner. So here comes my survival mode meals list:

This entire fall seems to be about pumpkins. Today, specifically, about pumpkin muffins with chocolate chips. The fall season is almost over but since the Thanksgiving is still ahead of us, here's a recipe for these delicious beauties. I'm sure your Thanksgiving dinner guests would love these!  Plus - one more thing done from my bucket list (if it counts that I replaced pumpkin bread with pumpkin muffins) :)

  • 1 cup of brown sugar

  • 1 and 2/3 cups of all-purpose flour

It all started with pumpkin spice latte.

It was barely the beginning of September this year, the weather was still nice and warm, but for some reason the fall spirit came around and I couldn't wait for the fall to begin. I started googling pumpkin farms around us, I found a place where we'd go apple picking, I made a fall bucket list... and somewhere between these fall prep activities I started craving for pumpkin spice latte.

Which is funny, because when in Boston, I was only able to d...

Holiday season is almost here and I'm sure you'll need some cake recipes for your parties, right? I don't usually bake any fancy cakes with fillings and frosting and all those accessories that make it look amazing. This time though I decided to try some higher level baking. Last weekend I tried this cheesecake and even though it was my first cheesecake ever, it came out perfect!

Ever since summer ended I realized how our diet changed. From fruits, vegetables, and light summer soups w...

Every Sunday Joe and I eat breakfast together. Mostly it's him preparing the meal as I am so NOT-a-morning person. But when a miracle happens and I'm fully awake to be able to cook, I make pancakes. Once I was reading a cook book I had on my bookshelf for years (!) and found this apple pancakes recipe.

Today's recipe is a simple vegetarian lunch option with very easy preparation. Zucchini fritters.

I usually start thinking of this recipe when I notice the zucchini in my fridge have been lying there for quite some time now and could use some meal participation. I know I shouldn't have food in my fridge which is not assigned to a meal (why would I buy the zucchini if they were not on the list?). But it happens because I'm only human and do exercise impulsive buying from time to time.

Good thing abou...

I'm pretty sure everyone of us has been there - trying to lower your grocery bill. At the end of the month you're looking at your grocery spendings and you're wondering if you've been feeding the entire high school football team. How else could you explain the insane amount of money you spent on food?

The first step in cutting your grocery bill is the hardest one. Until now you've been telling yourself that it's imposible to spend any less money on food. You persuaded yourself that you're shopping...

This weekend I found and tried an amazing recipe for an avocado spread. Even though I'm a fan of avocados and I know how healthy they are, I never used them in recipes. Avocados were not very usual to see when I was growing up and I tried them for the very first time only year or two ago. I've liked them ever since but only ate them sliced on a buttered bread. Nothing fancy and worth sharing, I know.

Then I found this totally simple recipe and I dare to say I'm not going to eat sliced avocados...

I've been making homemade turnovers for some time now, usually simple triangle shapes, but I wanted to make something special for Valentine's Day this year and made them in the shape of heart. However the problem of this shape are leftovers. So I took the small leftover piece of puff pastry dough, put a little filling inside and closed it on the top. I didn't expect much but it turned out perfect.

That was the time when I realised the possibilities of puff pastry. Why should I stay with regular tur...

Have I ever mentioned that I hated vegetables when I was little? I really did. From all the different kinds of veggies all I would eat was green pepper, corn, fresh pea, cucumber, carrot, and sometimes lettuce. Of course I hated when my mom wanted me to eat some other type, which wasn't very often, as she didn't like veggies that much either. So each time when she would make for example fried cauliflower for the family she would also make something else for me to eat.

I'm not sure when exactly this...
